Frequently Asked Questions:
- Is the Outpost the same as the farm?
- The Apple Hill Farm carries many more products than the Apple Hill Farm store, and is a unique shopping destination!
- Can I see alpacas at the Outpost?
- The Outpost is located in Downtown Banner Elk and we do not have any of our farm animals at the store – but we do have lots of pictures of them!
- What kinds of yarn do you sell?
- All of our yarns are made from alpaca fiber, llama fiber, or mohair. We do have a small selection of yarns and fiber that comes directly from our animals! Most of our yarn is fair trade from Peru or made in the USA.
- Do you carry locally made products?
- Almost all of our products are made in North Carolina! We focus on supporting other small businesses and farmers when selecting which items to carry in our store.
- Are your alpaca socks made in the USA?
- Yes! Almost all of our socks are made in the USA!
- Is the Outpost dog friendly?
- We are not dog friendly as we are classified as a “food establishment” and cannot allow dogs around the prepared foods in the Local Foods Marketplace. Task Trained Service Dogs are always welcome.
- Is there parking?
- Yes! We have a paved parking lot with 11 parking spots, and a gravel lot that can accommodate several more cars.
